Crosshairs Cycling

Offseason Update

While some cyclocross riders competed recently at Sea Otter Classic (http://www.seaotterclassic.com/index.cfm/competitive_events_cyclocross.htm), most of the Crosshairs Cycling Team have swapped their cx bikes for those with fatter or skinnier tires. There have been some colder days to kick off the 2016 Spring season, but the weather is getting nice and mountain bike trails prime for riding.

Mountain bikers from all over the universe made the trip to Marysville, PA for THE International Intergalactic Global Open Mountain Bike Team Relay Championship of the Multi-Friggin-Verse (IIGO). (http://outdoorexperience.org/mtb-relay/) The race proved to be challenging and fun for the Red Bearded duo that managed to finish 6 out of 150 teams.1E9A9905

The Leesburg Bakers Dozen took place on Saturday, April 9, which was one of those chilly Spring days. As always the race sold out fast, but a number of Crosshairs were still able to make it in the field. Riders hit the northern Virginia trails for 13 hours and Bruce Buckley (http://www.brucebuckleyphotography.com/Sports/Mountain-Biking/Leesburg-Bakers-Dozen-2016/) was able to capture some of the team in action. The Mid-Atlantic Super Series (http://www.masuperseries.com) held their first endurance race of the 2016 season in the Weiser State Forest. The Rattling Epic course is known to be fun and great views of the Pennsylvania backcountry, oh and the rocks. Crosshairs’ Rebecca Crawford did not just finish her first MTB race, but came in seventh all while riding SS. Her experience in the race was rewarding for her, she will surely be back racing on singletrack in no time.

In road news, Crosshairs teammate Jay Dove spends his quality time with another team, which will remain nameless for now. Dove fought hard in the MABRA Carl Dolan Memorial Spring Classic on April 10th that resulted in an 8th place finish in the Elite race. It is a strong start to his road season, so it will be no surprise to see him on the podium pretty soon.

Even though the tent sale has passed, Bike Doctor Waldorf still has plenty of great bikes and accessories on sale. It is also a great time to get a proper fitting from the experts at the shop. If you have a chance stop by and thank them for their support of the Crosshairs Team, and be sure to tell your friends.

There are a few good mountain bike races coming up that will most likely have some Crosshairs team presence.
